About Us
Cornelius Early Scholars is a nonprofit (501-C3) scholarship Christian preschool that provides children in need with a head start in their early childhood education. Our mission is to ensure every child receives a quality education in a nurturing and safe environment. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, and we strive to provide the tools and resources necessary to make it happen. Our team of experienced educators is dedicated to creating a curriculum that encourages exploration, creativity, and a love of learning. We are committed to providing a well-rounded education that prepares children for success in kindergarten and beyond.
The Purpose
Cornelius Early Scholars was created to help the 25% of children who are unprepared to enter into kindergarten. These children cannot count to 20, recite the ABC’s, properly use a crayon or scissors, may have never held a book or had one read to them. Without a preschool experience, these children start behind their peers and rarely if ever catch up. This leads to greater academic and social challenges in their future.
Approach
Cornelius Early Scholars plans to take a unique approach to early childhood education by educating the parents as well. “Kids need their parents or guardians to be involved in their education if they are to be successful. Unfortunately, many parents just don’t have the skills or training to help their kids at home,” said Rev. Judge. The expectation is that the majority of kids will get a full scholarship. But while there won’t be a financial cost for most, there will be the expectation that parents will participate in training classes to teach them to teach their children to develop good learning habits at home.
